Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully missed his first Dodgers' home opener for the first time in 35 years.
Instead of Scully, baseball and Dodger fans were introduced to Tuesday's telecast on Fox Sports Net Prime Ticket and MLB Network by Charlie Steiner and Steve Lyons.
Steiner said during the broadcast Scully was suffering from a "bad cold."
The last Dodgers' home opener Scully missed was in 1977, when he announced the Master's Golf Tournament insead.
Scully announced all four previous games this year in San Diego. He announces all Dodgers' home games and National League West road games.
Scully will announce the rest of 2012 season, but has not announced his plan after this season.
